Gabriela Brenes

AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

Gabriela Brenes is the audience engagement manager at the Pulitzer Center. She is a multimedia journalist and strategist with more than a decade of experience at the intersection of journalism, education, and digital innovation. Her work focuses on building inclusive, audience-first strategies that amplify underreported stories and foster civic dialogue. Before joining the Center, she held roles at Radio Ambulante, Fusion Media Group, Voice of America, The Wall Street Journal, and the Institute for War and Peace Reporting, where she advised newsrooms across Latin America on audience research, digital strategy, and sustainability.

A certified agile facilitator and TED Education trainer, Brenes has led transdisciplinary teams and designed engagement frameworks for initiatives spanning podcast communities, XR storytelling, and civic tech. She has also trained journalists, educators, and civil society organizations around the world. Gabriela has participated in fellowships with the International Center for Journalists, Community Solutions, the Online News Association’s Women’s Leadership Accelerator, and Take the Lead. Originally trained as a classical pianist, Brenes is fluent in Spanish, English, and German, and is passionate about storytelling, gamification, and using technology for social impact.
