Caroline Moorehead

Caroline Moorehead is a biographer and historian and has worked in human rights over the years. She is the author of 14 books, most recently a quartet on resistance in France and Italy during and before the second world war.

Her latest book is about Leonardo Sciascia, the Italian writer and political activist who defined his life by his constant battles against the Sicilian mafia and the corruption of the Italian state in the 1970s and 1980s.

She started an arts program for a refugee organization and wrote and co-produced a series of human rights films for the BBC. She reviews for both UK and U.S. papers.
