Brielle Carlson

TEACHER FELLOW

With 17 years of experience as a high school Social Studies educator in rural, northeastern Minnesota, Brielle is passionate about bringing a dynamic and forward-thinking approach to the classroom. She emphasizes critical thinking, civic engagement, and curiosity about the planet both locally and globally. Brielle believes that education should not only prepare students academically but also shape them into informed, empathetic citizens capable of contributing to an interconnected world. Throughout her career in education, Brielle has participated in numerous prestigious teacher fellowships, including the National Geographic Grovesnor Fellowship, the Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Fellowship, and the Qatar Foundation International Teacher Leadership Program. From traveling to and learning in Antarctica, Senegal, Qatar and across the United States, each one of these professional development programs has shaped her pedagogical practices. These opportunities have allowed her to collaborate with educators from around the world, integrate diverse perspectives into her classroom curriculum, and stay at the forefront of educational trends. Brielle is dedicated to continuous learning and growth, always striving to bring the best to her students. Beyond the classroom, Brielle and a colleague established a successful international education travel program at her high school. She has traveled with students to Egypt, India, Nepal, Morocco, Thailand, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and all over Europe. Brielle feels strongly that these invaluable firsthand experiences broaden students' global perspectives and help them to develop important life skills like adaptability, open-mindedness, and cross-cultural communication.
