Micaela Novosad
(student, painter and engraver)
What is, in your
opinion, a professional artist?
It is somebody who shows his/
her works, not only intentionally communicating feelings through
their art-works but most importantly, though, a social vision.
What's the relation between art and money in your work?
It is casual and at random.
How do you resolve the conditions of visibility of your work in
the context you work in?
I do not understand the question.
How would you define cultural tourism?
I believe everything is cultural tourism. Even when you go
to wonderful beaches in Brazil for example, to get some rest,
you are seeking the pleasure of enjoying the pleasures of the
other culture. (For culture is everything that humankind does,
this also refers to hotel service, the cleaning, the facilities
and so on).
How would you define culture shock?
Clashes among cultures. That is to say, individuals (or crowds
of individuals) of two or more different cultures that find themselves
in a situation where the actions of some interfere significantly
the cultural elements of the other, or worse still they are not
able to understand the reasons why they behave in such a different
way.
What's the relationship between control and chance in your work?
They go hand in hand. I always pay special attention to the
importance of concepts laid on an art-work. Sometimes the symbolism
is at random and some other times I develop them very carefully.
Sometimes, the conceptual foundation of a new series is the outcome
of long meditations, quite often drafted by chance.
How important is it for you to be able to talk about your work?
It is inevitable. All the time some phrases hide themselves in
the air...
