Installation using sculpture, architecture, video, hot air and sound, Rijksakademie, 2002

Remote Control

I would like to present you some remarks and fragments that are related to the installation:
Components are pulled out of their natural relationship. Being picked up and replaced. The event seems to turn matters inside out and thereby making them visible again.
The space is being torn apart by an intense crackling and tearing sound. The sound sculpts it's way through the space.
A fragment of a kitchen: On the left wall black pans hang on hooks, a net with potatoes.
The pans move slowly from the wall, still attached to the hooks. Back and forth. Back and forth.
Invisible forces appear to be influencing the space.
For a short moment everything is in its right place. Everything makes sense. A split second.
Everything falls apart again. Things don't seem to have any connection.
A couch is not just a piece of furniture on which one sits comfortably, rather, it serves as a way for placing people in predetermined fixed coordinates. .
