The International Contemporary Art Fund was founded by independent
agents in the city of Mar del Plata, in April 1999. Legally, it
is a NGO non-profit organization (Personería Jurídica
Nro. 22240). Since then the Fund works to achieve the following
objectives and aims:
1 -Special training for artists or for anybody who is interested
in some specific aspect of contemporary art through seminars,
workshops, clinics, lectures, video projections, etc, giving special
attention to local young artists.
2- Counseling to artists for the presentation of projects on a
national and on an international level.
3. Network.
4. Appropriate space to exhibit work.
5. Patrimony, collection and propagation of local, national and
international contemporary art. ,
6- Documentation Fund for public consultation and on going updating
of books videos and publications.
7. Editorial Fund to publish projects, books and portfolios.
Project: The drawing club
The drawing club is a social community project to support this discipline
and to promote the exchange of criteria on the question what
is drawing about?
Drawing is an activity that draws people of different ages and different
strata in society. Artists and non-artists. A draftsperson is he
or she who draws, a pleasure anybody may enjoy. Regardless of how
one draws.
The drawing club is a project that involves diverse activities around
this discipline: exhibitions, debates publications, public exchange
meetings, collections and archives, creating drawing clubs in schools,
etc.
Daniel Besoytaorube
Born in Mar del Plata, Argentina in 1959.
1988 Lived in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
1991-1992 Won the Antorchas Foundation Award to work in the studio
coordinated by Guillermo Kuitca in Buenos Aires.
In 1997 he became a member of the Auditorium Center for the Arts
Theatre
(under the sub Culture Secretariat of the Province of Buenos Aires)
as coordinator / producer and exhibition curator he also
organizes talks, lectures and video series.
1999 He created the International Contemporary Art Fund together
with Cecilia Gispert and Mario Gemin in Mar del Plata.
Mario Gemin
Born in Mar del Plata, Argentina, in 1960.
1984 He graduated as a Graphic Designer from the Escuela Superior
de Artes Visuales (Visual Art Superior School) in Mar del Plata
1986-1989 Lived in Barcelona, Spain. Throughout this time he is
involved in the study design at «Zimmermann Asociados",
headed by Ives Zimmermann. He is in touch with América Sánchez,
Humberto Rivas and Norberto Chaves, who had a strong influence in
his training.
1990-1991. Lived in San Diego, California.
Lives and works in Mar del Plata since 1992.
Since 1982, parallel to his work as a designer, he works on his
art taking part in exhibitions as an artist, in juries and as curator
in several national and international exhibitions.
