Management definition: mission and objetives
Individual and independent. A show room to exhibit projects by artists
who have had little exposure, or who, being in mid-career are half
way through a creative process. These projects are part of a developing
body of work, and the work shown in Lelé is usually experimental.
During each exhibition, the artist on show asks an art critic, a
teacher or colleague, who knows his or her work, to deliver a talk,
illustrated with slides, discussing the development of his or her
work.
While selling the work is not a priority in Lelé, I am interested
in selling the work on show as a bread winning possibility for the
artist, as well as for the upkeep of Lelé through the percentage
Lelé gets on sales.
I am keen in collaborating with new options for the art market.
Lelé de Troya art space was inaugurated in 2001. It is in
Palermo Viejo, in a restaurant, removed from the dining area.
Description of the inner organization, defining human resources
and what does each management member do
The inner organization is made up by the owner of the restaurant
in her capacity as owner of the restaurant- who pays for
the general upkeep of the show room (electricity, telephone, cleaning
and rent).
My specific personal work lacks other human resources.
I choose artists through a close acquaintance with their work, as
much as for the project in question.
I am responsible for the specific upkeep of the show room after
every exhibition, as well as for the re conditioning of the show
room for the next exhibition. When there is a sale, we charge a
commission that we reinvest on the premises.
Minimum Projection: To uphold the Lelé de Troya space
as a show room, meeting place, and the premises to debate and to
ponder on the different art processes.
Maximum Projection: to achieve working space for artists with
studios, materials and means to produce work. Artists would be allowed
a limited time, between three and six months, according to the projects.
The making of the work would be sponsored by collectors, who would
also buy the finished work.
The exchange and confrontation between artists would work as a detonator,
would generate thoughts (analysis) and references for the construction
of the work.
The artists taking part in the project will commit themselves to
generate community projects in cultural fields, for example: visual
arts workshops, visits to museums, etc.
The evaluation of how the project is seen is twofold. On the one
side, the usual restaurant goers are stimulated by the projects
on show. On the other hand, the art media backs the undertaking.
